Youth and Child Empowerment

Youth and Children’s Empowerment/Shepherding Our Children. Our children are our future. They must be guided to live appropriately when they become adults. Our children are our greatest asset to be developed and cherished. This is done through a comprehensive set of programs that include the Rites of Passage Program, A Place for Faithful Men, A Place for Virtuous Women, It Takes a Village Program and Summer Student Orientation Program.
Rites of Passage is a nine month developmental enhancement initiative accommodating youth ages 5-12. It features seven learning modules targeting behavior outcomes including: Educational Excellence, Citizenship, Spirituality, Community Responsibility, Personal and Social Relationships, Cultural-Specific History and Enhanced Self-Esteem.

A Place for Faithful Men is a gathering held weekly. Young males ages 13-18 learn to become faithful men. They learn to be the grooms of society, husbanding our communities as the leaders they were created to be. Virtuous Women is a group intervention class addressing the behavioral needs of young women. Interventions of this program are very similar to those in Women’s Empowerment/Hagar's Hangout tailored to the needs of girls between the ages of 13-18.

It Takes A Village/Community Based Parenting is a long-term investment manifested through a variety of developmental and intervention initiatives. This program is implemented through an array of techniques including: mentoring relationships, personality and learning style assessments and advocacy services among other features. This program provides generational partnering with children beginning at age 12. It draws from community resources incorporating the aid of community-based and civic organizations, corporations, the public sector (especially juvenile justice, educational institutions K-12 as well as post secondary), churches, parents, other adults, and other neighborhood resources. The goal of this intervention program includes the development of a sense of safety and support as he/she develops the life skills (education, etiquette, efficacy, commitment to the community and sense of responsibility) necessary to become viable participants in this society.

Summer Student Orientation Program is an 8-week summer youth program developed to respond to various needs of Denver metropolitan youth during the summer months. It provides youth with a rewarding and stimulating structured learning experience.
