Marriage Counseling

Marriage Counseling/What God Hath Joined Together. Marriage is a very important institution. Often the quality of families, neighborhoods and communities depend on the quality of a marriage. Marriage requires pre-planning and management, and should not be taken for granted. BSI’s Marriage Counseling program offers Premarital Counseling and Post-Marital Counseling. Premarital Counseling is available for couples considering marriage. This program provides: Individual and Couple Interviews, Personality Assessments that incorporate the usage of genograms, Conflict Resolution Techniques and Problem Solving Techniques. It emphasizes the assessment of and differentiation between symptoms and underlying issues, Communication Skill Building and Multicultural Competence. These sessions are facilitated by persons who are certified in the above areas and certified to perform marriage ceremonies. At the end of the process couples receive a certificate of completion, and the couple may choose to have their counselor perform the marriage ceremony.

Post-Marital Counseling is geared toward married or divorced couples, who are struggling with their commitment to the marriage or considering remarriage. In these sessions the benefits, and costs associated with marriage are explored through the following areas: Personality Assessments incorporating the usage of genograms, Individual and Couple Therapy, Marital Group therapy, Conflict Resolution Techniques, Problem Solving Techniques, emphasizing the assessment of and differentiation between symptoms and underlying issues, Communication Skill Building and Multicultural Competence. These sessions are facilitated by persons who are certified in the above areas and certified to perform marriage ceremonies. At the end of the process couples receive a certificate of completion, and the couple may choose to have their counselor perform the marriage ceremony.
